The Hamsun Centre at the Northern Norway Festival
The Hamsun Centre contributes to the literary program at the Northern Norway Festival for the third year in a row.
Ednama Sjatto is back
Kickstart, the day before Hamsundays with the commissioned work, Ednama sjatto - new Sami music for Markens grøde, silent film. The silent film "Markens grøde" from 1921, is based on the book of the same name by Knut Hamsun.

Welcome to The Hamsun Centre 2.0
After being closed since mid-November 2025, the entire The Hamsun Centre and in a new outfit! On June 12th, Nordland County Council invites and The Hamsun Centre for the grand opening of the center.
Royal patronage continues
There have been many questions about the Hamsundagenes' position on HRH Crown Princess Mette - Marit's patronage after the so-called "Epstein files" were made public. The Hamsundagenes currently wish to continue the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Mette - Marit.
Artist releases from both Norway and abroad at this year's festival
Hamsundagene is putting extra effort into music this year. Artists from Norway and abroad are on the program. At least 2 concerts per day.
The literature seminar is back at Hamsundagene
After a break of several years, the literary seminar is once again ready for Hamsundagene on Hamarøy, August 4–7, 2026. It was precisely such a seminar that started the festival in 1982, and now the tradition is being revived with new perspectives on Knut Hamsun's life and writings.
Open letter to the royal family
The Hamsundagene joins several organizations in an open letter to the Royal House.
Ednama Sjatto travels to Slovakia
The old silent film Markens grøde from 1921 has been given new Sami music. The film is based on Knut Hamsun's Nobel Prize-winning novel, Markens grøde (1917).
New director
The Nordlandsmuseet has hired Monica Celius as its new director. The Hamsun Centre in Hamarøy – a center dedicated to Knut Hamsun's life and writings. Since its opening in 2009, The Hamsun Centre established itself as a significant cultural institution, both nationally and internationally.
Close to Marianne Lauritsen
On The Hamsun Centre We meet Marianne. A creative 28-year-old woman from Trøndelag who chose life in the north. During this year's Hamsundagene, Marianne will be on stage with her first solo performance "Ragnhild the Great".
