You can get to Hamarøy by bus, boat, ferry and private car.
Feel free to use Reis Nordland when planning your trip by public transport.

If you are coming from afar, flights and trains are an option.

Fly

Travel to Bodø Airport , Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes or Svolvær Airport .

From Bodø there is a fast boat (2 hours 20 minutes) or bus (3 hours 50 minutes) to The Hamsun Centre at Presteid if you do not choose a rental car (2 hours 50 minutes).

From Evenes, a rental car is recommended (2 hours 40 minutes incl. ferry ) although it is possible to get to The Hamsun Centre by bus (4 hours incl. ferry).

From Svolvær there is a fast boat (1 hour) and summer ferry (2 hours) if you do not choose a rental car (2/3 hours incl. ferry ).

Train

Take the train to Fauske station or Narvik station.

From Fauske there is a bus (2 hours 25 minutes) to Hamarøy if you do not choose a car (2 hours).

From Narvik there is a bus (2 hours 55 minutes incl. ferry ) if you do not choose a car (2 hours 20 minutes incl. ferry ).

Car/Motorhome/Caravan

From Salten and Helgeland in the south, follow RV80 and E6 north. 2 hours 50 minutes from Bodø, 2 hours 25 minutes from Fauske and 4 hours 25 minutes from Mo i Rana. 

From Ofoten and Troms in the north, follow the E6 south. 2 hours 20 minutes incl. ferry from Narvik and 5 hours 40 minutes incl. ferry from Tromsø.

From Lofoten and Vesterålen in the west you can take the summer ferry from Svolvær to Skutvik (2 hours) or the ferry from Lødingen to Bognes (1 hour).

Ulvsvåg / Sørkil / Storjord approx. 15 - 25 km from The Hamsun Centre

The inland sea about 40 km from The Hamsun Centre
