An animated film for young and old about a little Belgian girl growing up in Japan.
Amelie is a little Belgian girl born in Japan. Thanks to her friend Nishio-san, her life is filled with adventure and discovery. But on her third birthday, a single event changes everything. For Amelie, everything is at stake – both happiness and tragedy.
Little Amelie is an animated film for children, parents and grandparents. Based on a novel by author Amélie Nothomb, who spent her early years in Japan, the film follows Amelie from the age of 2 to 4. It shows her perspective on life, Japan and the people around her. A truly unique film!
The film was first shown at the Cannes Film Festival earlier in 2025. It has Norwegian language and is suitable for children aged 6 and up.

About Veten film club:
Veten Film Club is located on Hamarøy in Nordland and their regular film screenings take place in the Adventure Hall here at The Hamsun Centre .
Anyone can become a member of the film club. Membership costs NOK 50 for those between 0 and 20 years of age, and NOK 100 for those 20 years of age or older. Membership lasts for six months from the date of purchase.
