Ståle Dingstad

Lecture in the Adventure Hall at The Hamsun Centre , Wednesday, August 5

Author and professor

Ståle Dingstad (b. 1965) is a professor of Nordic literature at the University of Oslo. He holds a Ph.D. on Knut Hamsun from 2003, and has researched, among other things, book history and the representation of minorities in Nordic literature. In 2021, he made a name for himself with the book Knut Hamsun and the Norwegian Holocaust , which created great debate.

In recent years, Ståle Dingstad, together with Frode Boasson (professor at NTNU), has worked to publish new, scholarly editions of Hamsun's books: Hunger in 2024, and Pan in 2025. Dingstad will be guesting at the festival with a conversation about the work on the text-critical editions in general and Pan in particular.
