Sigbjørn Skåden

Author and artist

Sigbjørn Skåden (b. 1976) comes from Skånland and lives in Tromsø. He is the author of several books, including poetry collections and novels. He has received the Havnmann Prize and been nominated for the P2-lytternes Novel Prize. In 2026 he was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize for the second time, this time for the novel Láŋtdievvá / Planterhaug (2025) which was published in parallel in Torne Sámi and Norwegian.

During Hamsundagene you will meet him in conversation with Britt Kramvig about the performing arts project Golden Ája Lapland Casino & Motel, an interactive theater experience consisting of a Sami casino set up in a disused prayer house in Balsfjord. The project has now been immortalized in a book as part of the series Norwegian Performing Arts Classics . In the book, Skåden discusses the research behind the project, and the subsequent performance.
