Intermedial artist and creative technologist

Boris Vitazek (b. 1989, Slovakia) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. He works at the intersection of live performance, site-specific A/V installations, electronic sound, and community work. His work explores how the boundaries between organic systems and artificial environments are broken down, often using creative coding and self-developed software to shape space and data in new ways.

Vitázek's portfolio includes large-scale public space projections, interactive game art, and experimental scenography. Notable projects and exhibitions include the solo presentations Tool Hierarchy (2022) and Infinite Countdown (2025), the collaborative work Ecolalia shown at Ars Electronica (2022), the experimental album Amalgam (Weltschmerzen, 2023), and the live A/V performance Narrative Absence at Lunchmeat Festival (2024). He has created live visual expressions with, among others, Actress, Sote, and Andy Stott. His work has been shown internationally, including at Signal Festival, Nuit Blanche, Pohoda, and Next Festival.

Narrative Absence
Audiovisual live performance by Boris Vitázek that explores the role of narratives in human life and civilization. Each individual constructs their own life story; when it is missing or undergoes major shifts, unrest often ensues — sometimes death, sometimes renewal. The same can be said of nations and of human civilization as a whole. In a time of new challenges, the absence of a clear narrative can be dangerous: it can be shaped by actors with bad intentions, or led astray by economic and social systems that do not point to a sustainable future. The work uses music from his upcoming second album, which continues themes from his debut album Amalgam .

This site-specific sound work maps voice fragments in the vertical architecture of the Hamsun Center. By isolating and distributing different syllables to individual speakers placed throughout the building's interconnected spaces, a cascading, artificial reverberation is created. The sound follows a rotating script that alternates between excerpts from Knut Hamsun's literature and contemporary statements from the MAGA/MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) movements.
