Professor and author

Henning Howlid Wærp (b. 1996) lives in Tromsø where he is a professor of Nordic literary studies at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. 

He has written and edited several professional books, including about Sigbjørn Hølmebakk and Cora Sandel, about Norwegian nature poetry and about prose poetry as a genre. In 2017 he published the book Arctic Literature. - From Fridtjof Nansen to Anne B. Ragde , the following year he published Hele livet en vanderer i naturen – Eco-critical readings in Knut Hamsun's writings . The latter was launched during the Hamsun Days 2018.

Wærp has worked at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and has been a visiting scholar at Berkeley University in California and Columbia University in New York. He is a literary critic for Aftenposten, and has also written fiction: two novels and three poetry collections.
