Researcher and literature reviewer

Birgitte Furberg Moe (b. 1982) is a researcher and literary critic. She received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Oslo in 2023 with the thesis “On the genesis of the text and on guilt in Knut Hamsun’s On Overgrown Paths (1949).” The thesis is based, among other things, on systematic work with letters, fragments from, drafts of, and revisions of the book’s various parts from 1945 until publication, texts that shed light on genesis, allegorical elements, and questions about personal beliefs and authorial intention.

Furberg Moe came across unknown letters that show the Hamsun family's close connection with the German press attaché in Stockholm during the war: Paul Grassman.
