Lecture at The Hamsun Centre , Wednesday, August 5

Postdoctoral fellow and speaker

Beatrice MG Reed (b. 1986) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Ibsen Studies at the University of Oslo. She has researched notions of nation, culture and race in Norwegian literature, and the relationship between nature and people in Scandinavian literature – including in Hamsun's Markens Grøde .

Beatrice will be hosting the festival with a presentation of her work on a new book project she is leading, about Sami characters and motifs in Knut Hamsun's books. An important basis for the project is the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report (2024).
