Programme for the media
The programme for the actual opening starts on 4 August at 5 p.m., however the media camp will be open from 10 a.m. There will be a guided tour of the Hamsun Centre in the morning of 4 August. In addition to the official opening ceremony, an extra tour will be arranged for the media to give them the opportunity to experience Hamarøy's fantastic natural landscape, and a guided tour of the Hamsun Centre before the opening ceremony later in the day. Here you will find a detailed media programme.
The opening also marks the start of Hamsun Days (4-9 August), which is an annual festival. Those of you who would like more information about Hamsun Days should visit www.knuthamsun.no.
Transport and transmitting conditions
Hotel rooms have been booked in Bodø and Fauske for the period between 3 and 5 August. Transport for the media will also be arranged to and from Bodø via Fauske to Hamarøy on 4 August. The Media Centre will have access to electricity, broadband and mobile cover.
The Hamsun Centre
The Hamsun Centre is under construction at Presteid in Hamarøy Municipality, Nordland, and will open for the 150-year anniversary of Knut Hamsun's birth on 4 August 2009. Steven Holl, who is one of the world's most recognised architects, has designed the building. The building is an invitation to experience Steven Holl's architecture, design and ideas. Location
The nearest airport is in Bodø, which is about three hours by car from the Hamsun Centre. Hamarøy Municipality has 1,754 inhabitants.

Accreditation
We hereby invite the media to Hamarøy and the opening of the Hamsun Centre. To visit the Hamsun Centre on the 4th of August you will need accreditation.
Media wanting to participate must enrol for accreditation by 3rd of July at 12 noon. Certificates of accreditation and a detailed programme for the media will be dispatched to those enrolled.
The media programme handles booking of accommodation, transport according to the programme, lunch and dinner on the opening day, access to the media centre and arrangements relating to the opening ceremony. Price per participant is NOK 2,000 plus VAT. Payment for accommodation and meals must be made directly to the hotels and restaurants concerned. If you only wish accreditation it is no charge.
